Miriam's journey has been one of resilience and determination. As a single mother, she faced numerous challenges but remained steadfast in her commitment to building a brighter future for herself and her son. She expresses deep gratitude to the Helping Hands Foundation and to her faithful sponsors for the financial and moral support she received throughout her academic journey. This assistance was instrumental in helping her achieve her goals.
Looking ahead, Miriam has ambitious plans to further her education by pursuing a diploma program. She hopes this additional qualification will open doors to even better career opportunities. With her strong work ethic and unwavering determination, we are confident that Miriam will continue to succeed and inspire others.

Christmas joy and togetherness celebration
This year, we celebrated a joyful Christmas party for our students, creating an unforgettable afternoon filled with happiness and camaraderie. The event featured lively performances of music and dance by our talented youth, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm.
A highlight of the day was sharing a delicious cup of hot chocolate accompanied by panettone and cookies, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. We also held an exciting raffle, where many students were thrilled to win a variety of prizes.
To conclude the celebration, each student received a panettone, or Christmas bread, and the younger children all received Christmas gifts of clothing and toys. Thanks to the generosity of a friend from California, even the high school students received extra gifts. The Christmas holiday spirit reigned!!!!
This wonderful event was made possible thanks to the unwavering support of our team, the dedication of our students who helped with the organization, and the generosity of all our sponsors. We are deeply grateful for everyone’s contributions, which brought this Christmas celebration to life and created cherished memories for all involved. Thank you for making this celebration so special!
A heartfelt visit from Panthera Edge Foundation
We were honored to welcome Jan, Alan, and Natalie, the founders and Executive Director of the Panthera Edge Foundation based in Michigan, during their visit to Helping Hands. Both of our Foundations share the belief that education is the key to independence and a better world, making this visit a meaningful exchange of shared values and aspirations.
Their ongoing support has had a significant impact on the lives of many of our students, and we are deeply grateful for their dedication and generosity. During their visit, they had the opportunity to meet the students they have been supporting, creating a heartfelt moment filled with gratitude and connection.

Game Changers: Raising awareness for healthy gaming habits
In October we held an insightful workshop titled "Game Changers" for our elementary and high school students, led by psychologists Viviana and Yamile. This session aimed to raise awareness about the potential risks associated with video games and other online activities.
Through interactive discussions, Viviana and Yamile helped the students understand how excessive gaming can impact their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. They also provided practical strategies to balance gaming with healthy habits, emphasizing the importance of self-control, time management, and real-life social interactions.
The workshop was highly engaging and left our students better equipped to make informed choices about their gaming habits. We thank Viviana and Yamile for their guidance and support in empowering our youth!
Finding Peace in the Pressure: Stress relief strategies for academic success
Our November workshop, Calma en el Caos, provided an invaluable opportunity for our post-secondary students to learn practical relaxation and stress management techniques. Recognizing the challenges they face in balancing their academic responsibilities with personal and professional commitments, this session was designed to equip them with tools to find calm amidst the chaos of daily life.
Led by experienced facilitators, the workshop introduced various strategies such as mindful breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and effective time management. These techniques not only help reduce stress but also enhance focus and resilience—key factors for academic success.
The session was interactive and engaging, allowing students to share their experiences and practice the tools in real-time. Feedback from participants highlighted the immediate benefits of these strategies and their potential to positively impact their studies and well-being.
We’re proud to support our students in building healthier habits for a brighter future.
